Vol.09, 2014.05.28 "Someone who is there to support me."

Nov 19, 2022

-Tomomin's Devil. That's the affectionate nickname David is known to everyone. He's incredibly popular thanks to his photogenic face and adorable demeanor, which makes you want to write lines in the speech bubbles no matter where you snap him. His owner, Tomomin, also describes David's state of mind, which is so enjoyable it feels like you're peeking into the conversation between the two of them, and you'll find yourself following along engrossed. We asked Tomomin, "What is my dog like?"

-Is your "pet" a human? An animal? An object?
Devit the cat, 7 years old, male

-What does "my dog" mean to you?

With her quiet, funny face, she's there to support me. Whether I'm crying or laughing, she's the closest to me and sees me as I am. In the morning, she meows for affection, and the first thing I do is hold her. While holding her, I tell her my plans for the day. When I get home, the first thing I do is hold her. While holding her, I listen to her talk about how her day went. She's not very demanding, but this cuddle communication has continued almost every day for seven years now. I want to continue this cuddle communication for as long as possible. As long as she stays healthy, that's all that matters!

- Please tell us about your favorite "My Pet" goods.

One is a keychain that looks just like Devi that I received as a souvenir from Singapore. It feels like I'm carrying Devi with me when I go out, and I love it. The other is a cat magnetic sticker that I have stuck on my front door (a gift from designer Shimizu Sakurako). It makes me feel warm and fuzzy and makes me smile every time I open and close the door. I also use it in a variety of ways, like sticking post-it notes addressed to the delivery man like speech bubbles. It's a convenient, soothing item.

I love photography, cats, and traveling. I'd love to go on a relaxing car trip with Debi someday.
