amaco’s pet plate 制作レポート2「NEO編」

"NEO Edition"

In this second installment of our pet nameplate production report, we would like to share with you all the details surrounding the creation of a nameplate for NEO, a half Abyssinian, half Russian cat.

First, we will post the message sent by the owner, @michuneko, when she applied for the model recruitment.

One thing pet owners have in common is the worry of what would happen if a disaster were to occur while they were away. For pets who have difficulty getting outside on their own, it would be nice to be prepared as much as possible on a regular basis.

This pet nameplate was created for just such an occasion, with the idea that it would be nice to have a nameplate just for your pet. Since you're going to the trouble of putting one up, you might as well make it cute. Something special.
With these thoughts in mind, we began thinking about the content of the nameplate.

There is only one thing that must be included on a nameplate. That is an illustration of your pet. Artist Amako carefully creates each one. While Amako is creating the illustration, the owner is asked to decide what other elements they would like to include on the nameplate.

→→→→→→→→→→→→

When deciding what to include on the nameplate, @michuneko asked us the following question:

Q: I have a question. In the event of a disaster, it would be better to know the fur color when rescuing a pet. Is this possible?
If possible, please include the following: I have a brown cat in my house. Please rescue it in the event of a disaster.
Or, I'm thinking of adding Color: Brown or Hair Color: Brown. What do you think?

Of course you can. This nameplate is semi-customizable, so you can choose elements from the pre-prepared text examples. Among the variations, there is a line that describes the coat color, so let's try incorporating the "Color: Brown" element into the design! That's what we discussed.

A week to 10 days after placing the order, the design layout was completed along with the illustration sent by artist Amako. You will be asked to confirm the illustration and layout on a confirmation sheet. This time, nocoto proposed three patterns.

After checking the finished layout, @michuneko contacted us with the following message:

Q: Thank you for drawing the illustration so sharply.
It's true that he does have this expression at times, and he looks exactly like him, but I was a little concerned about his eyes. I personally think his eyes should be a little more open, and I'd like to see that version too. Other than the eyes, I don't mind it, especially his big ears, which look just like him.

I'll send you a photo just in case.

Ahh...so cute...♡♡ She looks just like a gravure idol...(the manager's inner thoughts...) We asked Amako to look at the photos we received and decided to try to make the look of her eyes even more similar.

As a general rule, illustrations can be changed or revised only once. This "matching of ideas" is one of the joys of creating nameplates. The client also requested a slightly modified text layout based on a proposal from nocoto, and we reflected this in the design.

Here is the revised layout.

The eyes have changed from sharp to larger pupils, making them look more like NEO-chan! @michuneko was pleased with this. The design is now happily complete! We are now ready to begin production.

For reference, out of the 10 couples who served as models this time, NEO's nameplate has the most elements. (See this page for a list of nameplates .) It has a total of six elements: "Name / Illustration / Color / Gender / Birthday / There is a cat in the house. Please rescue it in case of a disaster."

In the design, we also tried to create a version that included the word "brown cat" in the text, "There is a brown cat in the house," but since the elements overlapped, we ultimately decided against it.

Here's the finished nameplate!

The house-shaped design and yellow color are very eye-catching, drawing attention to people outside, and also letting people intuitively know that there is a cat inside the house, which is great. Finally, we would like to share with you the impressions and many photos that @michuneko sent us, imagining the installation. Thank you so much!
